About The SAM
When Banksy left his iconic footprint in Port Talbot in Dec 2018, it immediately sparked interest globally and John Brandler, being one of the World experts on Banksy artwork, was immediately asked to give his opinion on the piece. He was so impressed by the work that he put in a bid to purchase the piece and fortunately for both John and Port Talbot, his bid was accepted by Ian Lewis, the original garage owner. The reason this was excellent news for Port Talbot was that John committed to keeping the piece in the town for a minimum of 3 years with the aim of increasing tourism within the area. The plan is to raise the profile of the town in a positive way and bring in much-needed funding to help the local economy.
Today, The Street Art Museum is presenting shows around the country, showcasing our collection of street art.
